Tom has been a practicing physician assistant for 20 years. He attended undergraduate training for PA studies at Kettering College of Medical Arts in Kettering, Ohio. He was awarded a Masters of PA studies by The University of Nebraska Medical Center. Most of Tom's PA experience has been in the areas of orthopedics and spine care.

Prior to attending PA school, Tom worked for 10 years as a surgical technician in The United States Army. Among his active-duty stations, he served a year-long tour in South Korea with the 43rd MASH unit, the unit on which the TV show MASH was based.

Tom and his wife Chrstine live in Columbus, Ohio. They enjoy boating, live music, and traveling. A favorite activity being the Buckeye cruise for cancer to support cancer research. They are also avid fans of the Buckeyes, Browns, and Columbus Blue Jackets.
